Educational Services

An investment in building a strong foundation for learning early in life pays off for children as they develop through their school years. That is why so much of our work focuses on preparing children to be ready to go to school. For families whose children are already in school, our trained staff links parents to the resources they need and helps them become actively involved in their children's education. Whether it is showing parents the benefits of reading to children while they are infants or teaching them games to play together that help children develop, children do better when their parents have the tools to help them.

 

Services

Early Childhood Education and Training offers educational opportunities for children and families in the community, as well as a variety of trainings and workshops for early childhood professionals.

DARE to be You offers 12-week workshops in English and Spanish at local elementary schools to preschoolers and their parents to focus on imporving parent and chiod interaction in the areas of communication, problem solving, and family skills.

Parents as Teachers curriculum trains home visitors to work with parents with the goals of increasing parent knowledge of early childhood development and parenting practices, early detection of developmental delays and health issues, and increasing children's school readiness and schoool success. FSI is the Maryland State leader for PAT training.

Strenghtening Families Program is a free 14-week family sessions of workshops for Montgomery County parents in recovery and their youth.  SFP focuses on building and maintaining healthy family relationships.
